The relationship between academic success and school inclusion
Reflection on the inclusive school indicates that academic success and inclusion are not opposing ideas, but rather go hand in hand. For this model to be a reality, it is fundamental that every child has the necessary support for their development.
This support is materialized, among other tools, through the allocation of support assistant hours. According to the dossier, the calculation of these hours is based on Annex 4 (Protocol for evaluating complementary support needs), which scores up to 81 points across four blocks to determine the needs of each student.
However, the availability of this support may vary. The Ombudsman's report from January 2025 points out that, despite a global increase of 15.5% in hours, 23.2% of centers (466 out of 2,011) saw their allocation reduced.
