Complaint about cuts in support assistant hours in Ponent and Pirineus
The CGT Ensenyament Ponent i Pirineus union has denounced cuts in support assistant hours, demanding more resources to ensure that children have the necessary accompaniment for real inclusion.
This problem is part of a widespread trend. According to the dossier, out of 574 centers with published hours, 193 lost hours between the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years. Likewise, a report from the Ombudsman in January 2025 indicates that, despite an overall increase of 15.5% in hours, 23.2% of centers (466 out of 2,011) saw their allocation reduced.
In the specific case of the Balaguer school (L'Hospitalet de Llobregat), DOGC data shows that in the 2024-25 academic year it had 35.0 hours, while for the 2025-26 academic year 32.5 hours have been set, representing a variation of -2.5 hours.
