The situation of caregiver hours and job precariousness
The support for children with disabilities depends directly on the allocation of caregiver hours assigned to each center. According to the dossier, the calculation of these hours is based on Annex 4, the Protocol for evaluating complementary support needs, which scores up to 81 points across four different blocks.
However, the distribution of these hours shows irregularities. The Ombudsman's report from January 2025 indicates that, despite an overall increase of 15.5% in hours, 23.2% of centers (466 out of 2,011) suffered a reduction in their allocation.
This situation is reflected in the data from subsidized centers, where 193 out of 574 centers with published hours lost some between the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years. The current caregiver module is 450.00 EUR per weekly hour and school year.
