Adapting childcare hours to each situation
The main objective of school accompaniment is to ensure that every child has the necessary support for their development. As indicated by the source "It is necessary to adapt to each situation", flexibility and adjustment to real needs are key to effective inclusion.
This adaptation is technically based on Annex 4 (Protocol for evaluating complementary support needs), which scores up to 81 points across four blocks to calculate the allocation for each center.
However, the data show significant variations. In Girona, for example, there are 9 centers with published hours, and 4 of them lost hours between the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years.
Overall, the Ombudsman's report from January 2025 points out that, despite a global increase of 15.5% in hours, 23.2% of centers (466 out of 2,011) suffered a reduction in their allocation.
