The allocation of shadow teacher hours is based on the Protocol for evaluating complementary support needs, which scores up to 81 points divided into four blocks to calculate the necessary accompaniment.
The cost of the shadow teacher module is 450.00 EUR per weekly hour per school year, although for the 2022-2023 course it was 440.00 EUR. According to published data, out of 574 centers with published hours, 193 lost some between the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years.
The assignment calendar follows a process that begins with the proposal from the Directorate General for Inclusive Education in May, the initial assignment in July, and the final assignment before the start of the course. Communication takes place in December and the publication in the DOGC occurs between February and April.
