The situation of support in inclusive schooling
The support for children with disabilities in schools depends directly on the allocation of support assistant hours. According to the Ombudsman's report from January 2025, although there has been an overall increase of 15.5% in hours, 23.2% of centers (466 out of 2,011) have suffered a reduction in their allocation.
This trend is also reflected in semi-private (concerted) centers. Out of 574 centers with published hours, 193 lost some between the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years. These data are extracted from the annexes of the DOGC, where funded hours are published year by year, such as in resolutions EDU/759/2023, EDU/337/2024, EDF/1426/2025, and EDF/481/2026.
The calculation of these hours is based on Annex 4, the Protocol for evaluating complementary support needs, which scores up to 81 points divided into four blocks. This system determines whether or not the child has the necessary support for their school development.
